“This is a new record for the university at the prestigious event,” Dean Chen Jun-hong of AU’s College of Creative Design said. “We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students and their promotion of young Taiwan talent."
The winning entries, all from AU’s Department of Visual Communication Design, claimed prizes in the Communication Design category. This year’s awards attracted more than 6,000 submissions from 43 countries and territories.
Of AU’s four Bests of Best entries, three were in the Posters section and the other in Packaging Design. The former depict unconscionable media practices, global food shortages and the need to help others, respectively, while the latter is a box made out of charcoal paper.
The poster designers are Chen Pin-cheng, Kuo Ching-yi, Liao Wei-ting,
Liu Chieh-yu, Wang Ling-yu and Yang Shun-ming. The creators of the box are Chen Ting-yu, Chou Pei-hsuan, Lin Yi-hsuan and Wu Yu-ting.
A total of 12 victories from 32 submissions gives AU a success rate of 37.5 percent at this year’s competition. Over the past four years, 28 designs from the university have claimed Red Dot honors.
The AU students and their instructors will receive their awards at the official presentation ceremony around mid-October in Berlin. (DF-JSM)
