National Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been ranked first in the Asia-Pacific region by Germany’s prestigious red dot design awards in its first rating of the world’s universities.
The ratings were based on how each school performed over the past five years, with NTUST winning 43 awards, including five Best of the Best honors, to grab top spot, the university said April 26.
“The red dot placing and our No. 1 global ranking for universities in the iF design awards this year and last proves that the university’s efforts in developing diversified technical and vocational education have been recognized internationally,” NTUST President Chen Shi-shuenn said.
Four other Taiwan universities ranked in red dot’s top 15—Shih Chien University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taipei University of Technology, and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology.
The red dot awards are presented by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, with prize categories in product design, communication design and design concepts. (SB-THN)
